Uniformed Patrol and Traffic Focus of CA
Duties of the Uniformed Patrol and Traffic Division and the Reserves were the focus of the second session of the St. John Sheriff’s Office’s second Citizens Academy April 24, 2204 at the Lloyd B. Johnson Law Enforcement Training Center in LaPlace.
Citizens Academy Director Bernell Charles and Sheriff Mike Tregre welcomed back the participants for an evening of learning about the inner workings of this division.
Uniformed Patrol Commander Tanner Mangano explained that patrol officers are on the front line 24/7, patrolling neighborhoods in the parish, focusing on protecting people and property.
Traffic Commander Jared Seruntine told the group that the traffic officers’ main responsibility is responding to and handling traffic crashes in the parish.
The Reserves Division are volunteers who mainly assist with traffic control and citizen support during major community events.
Over the next seven Wednesdays, participants with have an insiders’ view of the operations of the sheriff’s office in a relaxed and interactive setting.
