Inmates can receive letters by US Postal mail only and money orders only. Books, Magazines, Bibles are not permitted by mail. Bibles can be obtained from the Jail Chaplin. Maximum of twelve (12) pictures of Family/Friends are accepted, but pictures sent that are sexually explicit will be confiscated. Items such as cigarettes, clothing, food, toiletries, and snacks must be purchased thru the commissary system. The commissary has everything that an inmate needs, and are allowed to have. Special requirements must be approved by the Warden or Assistant Wardens. Money Orders ONLY should be made out to the Inmates Name. Do not send Cash or Checks. The money will be placed in his/her account for commissary purchases. Reminder, please use Inmates correct name, no nicknames to insure money is placed in the correct account or to prevent delays in inmate receiving monies. The jail will not accept mail with postage due. |

Visiting Days and Hours are determined by the Dorm location of the inmate. Visitors should arrive 10 minutes before visiting times to allow for check in. If you need to know what dorm an inmate is in call the St. John Parish Correctional Center at 985-359-8709 Ext 8622 or Ext 8623

| Q. | What are the rules for visitors? | ||||||||||||||||

Visitors must follow all facility rules while visiting. Failure to obey the rules will result in the loss of the privilege to enter the facility. All visitors must be properly dressed. No see through clothing or gang affiliated colors are permitted. Visitors must have proper identification before entering the jail. Minors may visit relatives in the Jail when accompanied by a parent or guardian who is at least 18 years old. Visiting hours vary. Visitors must be on the Inmates approved visiting list to visit. Each Inmate is allowed to have three (3) persons of thier choice on thier visiting list. The inmate must submit the names of the persons he wishes on his list. | Q. | Are Inmates allowed to receive telephone calls? | ||||||||||||||||
| A. | The St John Parish Correctional Center does not accept incoming telephone calls for the inmates. Each Cell Block has a telephone for the inmates to use during daylight hours. Only out-going calls can be made on the phones, and there is a slight charge to the person accepting the call from the inmate. This charge will be added to your phone bill. | ||||||||||||||||
