Sheriff Millet won the election to fill the unexpired term of Sheriff Percy D. Hebert, who died in office. In a 1974 highly contested election, Millet won election by 254 over Lloyd B. Johnson. In 1976, Millet resigned from Sheriff 5 months early and relinquished the office to Sheriff Lloyd B. Johnson who won the general election of 1975 by 265 votes. He and his wife, Judy Millet have their home in LaPlace, LA.
