Nine Arrested in Narcotics Investigation

Date: June 23, 2017

The St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division arrested nine people Tuesday, June 20, 2017 after detectives seized marijuana, ecstasy, and cocaine and a stolen firearm at a Reserve residence.

On June 20, 2017, about 8 p.m., detectives executed a search warrant of a residence in the 100 block of Ellen Street in reference to a narcotics investigation. The investigation began in January after the SJSO received several anonymous complaints of drug activity taking place at the residence. Further investigation revealed that the residence had a makeshift recording studio in the garage behind the house that was being operated by suspects of the investigation.

During the course of the investigation, detectives learned the identities of several main suspects who controlled the residence and makeshift studio. These individuals used the location as a drug distribution area and were known to carry firearms.

While conducting surveillance on June 20, 2017, detectives decided to execute the search warrant. During the search, detectives arrested nine people and recovered three handguns, one of which was stolen, two rifles, ecstasy, marijuana, crack cocaine, and powder cocaine. The suspects also had more than $1,000 cash in their possession.

Four people arrested are convicted felons with lengthy arrest histories. Also at the residence, detective rescued four dogs that were in poor health and needed treatment.
