April 22, 2013, Attempted Armed Robbery Investigation

On Monday, April 22, 2013, at 12:57 am, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the 100 block of East 20th Street in Reserve for the report of a disturbance. When the responding deputy arrived at the location, the deputy saw a male subject fleeing the area. Another male subject at the location told deputies that the fleeing male subject tried to rob him. The victim was identified as a 27 year old LaPlace man.

The victim told investigators that the perpetrator approached him and asked for $20. When he told the perpetrator that he had nothing, the perpetrator pulled out a box cutter and threatened the victim. After a brief chase and physical altercation, the victim managed to fight off the perpetrator until deputies arrived. The victim sustained a small cut on his right index finger, but he refused medical treatment.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to call St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Detectives at 985-359-TIPS or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111. Citizens that submit an anonymous tip to Crimestoppers may qualify for a cash reward. Anyone with information does not have to testify in court and will be issued a tip number to be identified for the potential reward.
