On Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at 1:42 pm, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to 1616 West Airline Highway, Walmart, for the report of a theft from the store. The theft occurred Tuesday night at approximately 9:57 pm. Store associates reported the theft of electronic equipment that was valued at $7,579.88.


During the investigation, detectives identified 3 LaPlace juveniles, ages 16, 15, and 14, as suspects for the theft. They were arrested and charged for theft of $1500 or more. The 15 year old was also charged with criminal trespassing because he was forbidden in the store and an attachment.


All three juveniles had been previously arrested multiple times. The 16 year old was arrested 3 times since December 1, 2012 and charged with theft, criminal trespassing, disturbing the peace, simple battery, and intimidation.


The 15 year old was arrested 14 times since May 30, 2009 and charged with simple criminal damage to property (3), simple burglary (2), shoplifting (3), juvenile curfew (5), criminal trespassing, entering/remaining in places (2), possession of stolen things (2), unauthorized entry, attachments (2), and probation violation. One of the juvenile’s arrests was in connection with 2 burglaries of Sunshine Equipment in LaPlace in June of 2012.


The 14 year old was arrested 6 times since May 30, 2009 and charged with criminal trespassing, simple battery, theft, entering/remaining in places (2), disturbing the peace (2), simple assault, and shoplifting.
