On Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at 3:33 pm, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 1500 block of Belle Pointe Drive in Reserve for the report of gunshots fired in the area. The 35-yearÂold male victim told investigators that he was walking along the street when he first heard and then saw a car driving toward him. He saw Wendell James, 31, driving the car. James pointed a handgun at him and shot at him several times before driving away. No one was injured.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Wendell James for attempted second-degree murder. Thursday at 8:02 pm, James turned himself in to detectives at the Criminal Investigations Division. He was booked with attempted second-degree murder. No bond has been set. Wendell James was arrested 20 times in St. John the Baptist Parish since June 2002.
