St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office investigators are searching for Alfred Roy Cobb of Baton Rouge in connection with several ATM burglaries in St. John Parish and other parishes. Investigators say Cobb has used construction tools, including a heavy duty cutting saw, in his attempts to gain access to the various ATM machines.

In St. John, Cobb, 32, faces charges of simple burglary and criminal access to an ATM, both of which are felonies.

On Oct. 12, 2024 in the early morning hours, a bank ATM in LaPlace was damaged by individuals who attempted to gain access to the internal vault, in order to steal cash. The suspects used heavy construction tools such as crow bars and a heavy duty cutting saw, to defeat the outer housing of the machine. His attempts to get money from the ATM were not successful.

Using crime cameras and good old fashioned detective work, St. John Sheriff’s Office Detective Denis James was able to identify a lookout vehicle involved in the Oct. 12th incident.
Detective James worked cooperatively with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office (Albany) and the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s office, to identify the suspects and vehicle involved.

The identification of the lookout vehicle’s owner led detectives to 37-year-old Daniela Lucas, who is currently in custody for several like incidents, including the incident from St. John Parish. Lucas was arrested and booked Oct. 23, 2024 with simple burglary (felony).

Upon further investigation, Alfred Cobb was identified as the main suspect who is believed to be the orchestrator of the ATM burglaries which occurred in St. Parish and in other surrounding jurisdictions.

Cobb currently has several outstanding arrest warrants in surrounding parishes, as a result of his actions, and the investigations of the respective agencies.
