On Sunday, February 14, 2016, at 8:24 pm, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area near the intersection of West Airline Highway and Hemlock Street in LaPlace for the report of a disturbance. Deputies arrived to find the 33-year-old female victim. She told deputies that she met with her estranged husband who she is in the process of a divorce. When she met with him in a parking lot in the 500 block of West Airline Highway in LaPlace to exchange clothing for their child, he grabbed her and pulled her in his car. She told deputies that as he drove he refused to let her out the car and kept saying that he only wanted to talk. When she screamed for help to passing motorists who called 911, he let her out the car at the intersection of West Airline Highway and Hemlock Street. She was not injured.
Deputies identified Detriel Sentimore, 30, of Norco as the perpetrator. He fled the area before deputies arrived. Deputies obtained a judicial court ordered arrest warrant for Sentimore for domestic abuse battery and simple kidnapping. Wednesday morning, deputies transferred Sentimore from the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office and booked him in the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Sherman Walker Correctional Center. He remains in custody in lieu of a $30,000 bond. Sentimore was arrested nine times in St. John the Baptist Parish since October 2007.
