Pay before the end of March to avoid additional fees
The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, which serves as the ex-official tax collector for the parish, currently, has approximately 1,000 delinquent property tax accounts for the 2013 tax year.
Through the end of March 2014, accounts can be made current by paying the base tax, accumulated interest and certified notice fee.
Taxpayers are urged to pay within this time to avoid an additional 1 percent interest, $35 abstract fee and advertisement fees, which will be added to ALL UNPAID accounts beginning April 1, 2014.
Taxes can be paid online anytime by visiting www.stjohnsheriff.org or in person Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, Percy Hebert Building, 1801 West Airline Highway, LaPlace.
The only methods of payment accepted in person are check, cashier’s check or money order. Absolutely NO CASH will be accepted.
Payments can also be mailed to St. John Parish Tax Collector, P.O. Box 1600, LaPlace, Louisiana 70069. They must be RECEIVED by March 31, 2014 to avoid the additional fees.
