On Sunday, March 29, 2015, at 8:05 am, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff‘s Office deputies responded to a residence in the 2400 block of Cambridge Drive in LaPlace for the report of a disturbance. Deputies from the previous shift had responded to same residence for the report that Kyle Mitchell, 23, was threatening and harassing a 28-year-old female at the residence.
When deputies arrived, the victim told deputies that Mitchell had stalked, harassed, and threatened her, and she feared for her life. She told deputies that she met Mitchell through a social media site and had given him her cell phone number about a year ago, but his continual phone calls and text messages were annoying and unwanted.
After changing the number to her cell phone in an attempt to avoid Mitchell, he went to her residence Saturday evening demanding that she give him the new cell phone number. He returned to the residence at midnight Saturday knocking on the door and windows, threatening her, and demanding that she give him the new number. On both occasions, Mitchell fled the area before deputies arrived.
Based on the description of Mitchell given by the victim, deputies located and arrested Kyle Mitchell in the 2200 block of Cambridge Drive. Deputies booked Mitchell with stalking (2), resisting arrest by refusing to identify, simple assault, harassing phone calls, criminal damage to property, and attempted home invasion. He remains in custody in lieu of a $36,500 bond. Mitchell was arrested on March 5 and booked with telephone communications; improper language; harassment for harassing the same victim.
