On October 4, 2015, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies met with a mother and daughter who reported that the 13-year-old daughter was the victim of a sexual assault. The victim told deputies that the sexual assault occurred October 2 while at a party with friends at a residence in New Era Subdivision in LaPlace.
After a complete and thorough investigation that included laboratory analysis of evidence, detectives obtained a judicial court ordered arrest warrant on August 24, 2016 for Ryan Denet, 18, of LaPlace. After learning of the outstanding warrant for his arrest, Denet turned himself in to deputies at the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Sherman Walker Correctional Center Tuesday afternoon. Ryan Denet was booked with second-degree rape. He was released from custody September 22 on a $25,000 bond.
