Larry Baker, 58, of LaPlace, was arrested Monday, July 17, 2017, for attempting to break into a LaPlace residence.
On July 17, 2017, about 11:30 a.m., deputies responded to the 1100 block of West Airline Highway in LaPlace in reference to a male subject, identified as Larry Baker, attempting to burglarize an apartment. Upon arrival, the 66-year-old victim told officers that Baker was standing on a platform with what appeared to be a tire iron in his hand in an attempt to gain access through a door into the residence, then fled on foot towards U.S. 51. During the investigation, deputies observed damage to the door, frame and locking mechanisms. Deputies obtained a description of Baker. Shortly after, officers located Baker in the 100 block of West Airline Highway in LaPlace and arrested him. He was booked with attempted simple burglary and simple criminal damage to property – under $500 (misd). He is in custody in lieu of a $21,000 bond.
