Two 15-year-old male juveniles, both from LaPlace, were arrested in connection with a residential burglary. On Wednesday February 5, 2020, about 10 a.m., officers responded to the 600 block of Governors Circle in LaPlace in reference to a simple burglary of a residence. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the victim who reported that two unknown black male subjects entered his residence by breaking a rear window. Upon observing the victim in the residence, the subjects then fled through the front door in an unknown direction.
Through investigation, the residence’s doorbell surveillance and video surveillance in the neighborhood, detectives developed the two 15-year-old males as the suspects.
One 15-year-old was arrested for simple criminal damage to property-$50,000 plus (felony) and simple burglary of inhabited dwelling. This juvenile has been arrested 16 times since 2016 in St. John Parish for several charges including illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile, simple burglary of residence, resisting an officer, disturbing the peace, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, contempt of court, and criminal trespass.
The second 15-year-old was charged with simple burglary of inhabited dwelling (felony) and simple criminal damage to property – $1,000-$50,000 (felony). He has been arrested three times since 2016 for theft, simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling and simple criminal damage.
The juveniles were released the same day to their mothers.
