In celebration of National Read Across America March 2, Sheriff Mike Tregre and several fellow officers enjoyed reading to students at local elementary schools. Sheriff Tregre read “Delilah’s Delightful Dream,” a story about respecting others, cooperation and teamwork, for first graders at John L. Ory Communications Arts Magnet, Head Start students at Lake Pontchartrain, and first graders at LaPlace Elementary.
To celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss, which coincides with Read Across America, officers Chip Wale, Claudette Edwards, Quentin Nicholas, Kendel Harris, Danielle Falgoust and Darlene Cooper also read Seuss books to students at Emily Watkins Elementary, Lake Pontchartrain, LaPlace Elementary and Garyville Magnet.
Sheriff Tregre and the officers enjoyed spreading Dr. Seuss’ message: “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
Reading to students was a great way to spend some of their day, all of officers agreed.
