Sheriff Mike Tregre and officers were excited to travel around town November 22, 2022 when they delivered Thanksgiving lunches to members of the St. John Sheriff’s Office’s Protect Our Precious Seniors, POPS, program.

The POPS members were grateful for the lunch of barbecued chicken, rice dressing, green beans and bread pudding prepared by the talented SJSO cooks.

Several meals also were delivered to the St. John Council on Aging’s senior centers in Reserve and Edgard for distribution to COA clients.

Seniors also received a SJSO gift bag with treats.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority members were on hand to box the lunches for delivery. And, a big thank you goes out to Marathon for its generous contribution to the lunch. The SJSO also is grateful to St. John United Way for its donation.

Next year, Sheriff Tregre plans to bring back the traditional Thanksgiving senior citizens luncheon with food, bingo, door prizes and music at a local venue.
