The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office hosted its first Concealed Carry Permit class for the public January 14, 2023 at the LBJ Law Enforcement Training Center on Cambridge Drive in LaPlace.

Students completed certification required to obtain a Louisiana Concealed Carry License.

This 8-hour certification class helps students better understand the legal requirements necessary for the concealed carrying of a handgun as well as provide valuable insight into the safe handling of firearms, both inside and outside of the home.

The course consists of a classroom session that lasts about six hours, a one hour lunch break, and a one hour firearms qualification session in the shooting range.

This course is for the Concealed Carry Certificate only and does not provide the student with the actual license required by the state of Louisiana. All students also be responsible for paying any licensing fees required by the State.
