Two male juveniles from LaPlace, ages 13 and 15, have been arrested for vandalizing a restroom at Belle Pointe Park in LaPlace.
On Tuesday, September 19, 2023, officers received a complaint from parish recreation personnel in reference to criminal damage to property at the park. Upon arrival, officers observed a restroom sink and a urinal totally destroyed with ceramic pieces scattered on the floor throughout the restroom. Officers also located on the ground near the bathroom entrance, a metal water valve cover believed to have been used to damage the sink and urinal.
Through investigation and review of camera video surveillance in the area, officers developed the two juveniles as suspects. Based on investigation, detectives obtained a judicial warrant for the arrests of the juveniles.
During an interview with detectives, the juvenile confessed to damaging the property. They were charged with simple criminal damage to property – $1000-$50,000 (felony).
The 15-year-old was arrested September 22, 2023 and released to a guardian September 23, 2023. The 13-year-old was arrested September 25, 2023 and released to a guardian September 25, 2023.
