The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested two LaPlace brothers and booked them on charges of distribution of illegal narcotics among other charges following a weeks-long investigation.

Authorities arrested Kendell Prembrook, 21, and his 17-year-old brother My’leek Harris, both of LaPlace, on Oct. 14, 2024 following a traffic stop.

The St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division began conducting an investigation in early October 2024 regarding Prembrook’s and Harris’ involvement in the distribution of illegal narcotics, specifically Tapentadol, in St. John the Baptist Parish, Louisiana.

During the course of the narcotics investigation, detectives conducted a traffic stop and subsequently obtained a search warrant for a residence in the 600 block of Gardenia Avenue in LaPlace, LA. on Oct. 14, 2024.

During the investigation, detectives recovered 76 Tapentadol tablets, approximately 13 grams of crystal methamphetamine, approximately 201 grams of marijuana, approximately 12 fluid ounces of Promethazine, over $3,500 in U.S. currency and a loaded “AR” style rifle.

Detectives know through prior training and experience that the evidence recovered was consistent with the distribution of illegal narcotics.

As a result of the findings of the traffic stop and search warrant, Prembrook was arrested and booked with:
• Fugitive Warrant from St. James Parish
• Judicial Judge Warrant for domestic abuse battery-pregnant victim (Felony)
• Judicial Judge Warrant for battery of a dating partner-2nd Offense (Felony)
• Possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine (Felony)
• Transactions involving proceeds from controlled dangerous substance activity (Felony)
• Sale, distribution, or possession of legend drug without prescription or order prohibited Possession with intent to distribute marijuana (Felony)
• Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II CDS.
• Illegal carrying of weapon with CDS.

Prembrook has an arrest history including, but not limited to possession of/dealing in firearm with an obliterated serial number, possession of firearm in firearm free zone, illegal possession of stolen things and flight from an officer.

Prembrook is being held in the St. John Parish jail under a $159,000 bond.

Harris was arrested and booked with:
• Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II CDS
• Distribution of marijuana (Felony)
• Prohibited acts, drug paraphernalia (MISD)
• Transactions involving proceeds from CDS activity (Felony)
• Sale, distribution, or possession of legend drug without prescription or order prohibited.

Harris is being held in the St. John Parish jail under a $96,500 bond.

Tharrin Maddie,26, of Convent, the driver of the car at the time of the traffic stop, was arrested and booked with possession of a legend drug, driving under a suspended driver’s license and failure to stop at a stop sign.

Maddie was released under a $20,350 bond.
