The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested Tamyrihu Hubbard, 24, of Marrero and booked her with second degree murder in the shooting death of Joshua Jones, 23, of LaPlace.

On Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025 at 10:36 a.m. St. John Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home in the 100 block of E. Lakeview Drive in LaPlace in reference to a shooting. Hubbard called the St. John 911 Operations Center saying she had shot her boyfriend in the chest.

Deputies arrived on scene to find Jones unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hubbard told deputies that she and Jones had been arguing over the food that was made for breakfast.

Hubbard was arrested at the scene. She is being held in the parish jail under a $1 million bond.
