The St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office continues to monitor Tropical Storm Francine which is projected to become a hurricane when it makes landfall on Wednesday. Sheriff Mike Tregre and commanders have been meeting with parish officials to address parish plans before, during and after the storm.
St. John deputies have visited all registered Protecting Our Precious Seniors (P.O.P.S.) members ensuring they have battery-operated lanterns and storm assistance plans. Commanders have enhanced patrol shifts during the storm event. The SJSO surveillance cameras are monitoring lake levels.
Sheriff Tregre urges residents to stay off the roads starting at 8 p.m. tonight, Sept. 10. He reminds residents that once conditions start to deteriorate, officers might not be able to respond until conditions improve.
Sheriff Tregre also encourages residents to stay informed and watch for updates and changes. The SJSO APP will update residents on changes in local road conditions and water issues. For information on downloading the app, visit our website: https://stjohnsheriff.org/app/
