St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies participated in National Seat Check Saturday which was held Sept. 21 at the Sheriff’s Office in LaPlace.
More than 70 child safety seats were given away and installed for free during the event.
“We have to make sure we take care of our littlest citizens,” Sheriff Mike Tregre said.
The service allowed parents and caregivers an opportunity to meet with certified car seat technicians and ensure that their children are in the right seat for their height, weight, and age.
“Proper child seat installation is critical,” Sheriff Tregre said. “When we have calls of accidents, we are happy to see that children are seat belted properly.”
