The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a 14-year-old Reserve boy on Friday, Jan. 31, 2025, in connection with a school threat posted on social media targeting East St. John High School. The juvenile was booked with felony terrorizing and later released to his parents
The threat was circulated online January 24, 2025 and the juvenile, who is a student at LaPlace Elementary, was identified following an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
“Making a threat to our schools is likely to result in an arrest and criminal charges, including the charge of terrorizing that will be on your record for the rest of your life,” Sheriff Tregre said.
Sheriff Tregre would like to thank school officials for their partnership in helping investigate the threats and for those citizens who also notified authorities about the threats.
The Sheriff’s Office and the St. John Parish Public School System will take any and all threats at parish schools seriously. All threats will be investigated, and arrests will be made, if warranted, Sheriff Tregre said.
Sheriff Tregre also asks parents and students not to share images or rumors of threats on social media to prevent public fear and panic. Please report threats and rumors to school and law enforcement officials to properly investigate.
