On Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at 9:12 pm at the intersection of West Airline Highway and Belle Terre Boulevard in LaPlace, a St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff‘s Office deputy arrested and booked Clayton Jones, 40, of Ponchatoula with 4th offense DWI. The deputy saw Jones stopped on West Airline Highway and slumped over the steering wheel. Jones was stopped at the traffic signal that indicated a green signal.
The deputy knocked on the driver‘s side window to wake the driver, but his attempt to wake the driver was unsuccessful. It was not until the deputy opened the door and shook the driver that he woke. The driver smelled of alcoholic beverage and performed poorly on the standard field sobriety test.
The deputy arrested and booked Clayton Jones with 4th offense DWI, obstructing public passages, driver must be licensed, and two outstanding bench warrants for St. John the Baptist Parish. He remains in custody in lieu of a $35,850 bond.
