On Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at 8:56 pm, while on patrol with the Special Operations Unit, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies saw two men with a grocery basket in the 2000 block of North Sugar Ridge Road in LaPlace. Due to several complaints of stolen grocery baskets from Winn Dixie, deputies stopped to investigate. During the investigation of the grocery basket, deputies recovered a handgun from each of the men. Deputies arrested and booked the men accordingly.
Deputies booked Jordan James, 22, of Hollygrove Street in New Orleans with unauthorized removal of a shopping basket and illegal carrying of a weapon. James remains in custody in lieu of a $3,500 bond.
Deputies booked Dervol Zeno, 34, of Fife Lane in LaPlace with unauthorized removal of a shopping basket and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Zeno remains in custody in lieu of an $11,000 bond and a Louisiana Probation/Parole hold. Zeno was arrested eleven times in St. John the Baptist Parish since August 1999.
