The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division began conducting an investigation in late August 2025 regarding Eugene Schofield Jr. of LaPlace, LA and his involvement in the distribution of illegal narcotics in St. John Parish.
Eugene Schofield Jr. has an arrest history including, but not limited to, resisting an officer, battery of a police officer, aggravated battery with dangerous weapon, possession with intent to distribute controlled dangerous substance (marijuana, MDMA, cocaine, and methamphetamine), possession of oxycodone, possession of psilocybin, possession of Schedule IV CDS, illegal carrying of weapons with CDS, possession of firearm by a convicted felon, possession of stolen firearm, drug paraphernalia, and transactions involving CDS proceeds.
As a result of the narcotics investigation, Eugene Schofield Jr. was arrested on October 3, 2025. During his apprehension and subsequent search warrant at his residence in the 8800 block of Richmond Drive in LaPlace, LA, detectives located and recovered over 600 methamphetamine tablets and several oxycodone tablets.
Eugene Schofield Jr. now has three open and active drug distribution or possession with the intent to distribute cases in St. John Parish since October 2023.
Two additional subjects were arrested during the search warrant, Brent Jeanmarie of New Orleans, LA and Darrell Johnson of LaPlace, LA. Darrell Johnson fled the scene of the search warrant in a vehicle and struck a St. John Parish deputy causing the deputy to be hospitalized for an injury to his foot.
During their apprehension and subsequent search warrant on their vehicle investigators located and recovered approximately 100 methamphetamine tablets, psilocybin, and oxycodone.

Possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine (Felony)

DARRELL JOHNSON 32, of LaPlace, was booked with:
Prohibited acts, drug paraphernalia (Misdemeanor)
Hit and run driving (MISD)
Resisting an officer by flight (MISD)
Possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine (Felony)
Possession with intent to distribute psilocybin (Mushrooms) (Felony)
Possession of oxycodone
Aggravated battery (Felony)
BRENT JEANMARIE 44, of New Orleans, was booked with:
Resisting an officer (MISD)
Possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine (Felony)
Possession of psilocybin (mushrooms) (Felony)
Prohibited acts, drug paraphernalia (MISD)
Possession of Oxycodone.
