While celebrating the annual Night Out Against Crime on Oct. 7, the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office received a $2,500 donation for the Sheriff’s Office Bullet Proof Vest Fund from the St. Andrews Estates Homeowners Association.
The St. Andrews HOA hosted one of the 26 Night Out Against Crime parties that registered with the St. John Sheriff’s Office for the annual community event.
“We sincerely appreciate it. It’s the small things, like what you all are doing tonight, that keeps us focused, keeps us energized to do our job,” Sheriff Mike Tregre said. “Not everybody can do this job, not everybody wants to do this job. You have to have the heart of a public servant and that’s what you see here – all of these officers and first responders.”
In making the donation, Dolly Bernard, president of the association’s board of directors, called it a “token of gratitude” and thanked Sheriff Tregre and his department for keeping the community safe.
“Sheriff Tregre, we appreciate your leadership and the dedication of your entire department for your officers’ quick response, visibility and constant presence,” Bernard said. “It helps to keep our parish safe and give our residents confidence and peace of mind. This donation tonight is designated to support the purchase of a bullet proof vest, helping those who protect us.”
