The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested Raishad Batiste, the driver who fled a LaPlace traffic stop on Dec. 28, 2025 that led to an accident in which a SJSO deputy suffered a non-life-threatening leg injury.
Batiste was arrested in Metairie, La. around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026 after authorities spotted him at an apartment complex on Manson Avenue in Metairie.
Batiste was arrested without incident after the SJSO’s SWAT unit initiated a traffic stop, with assistance from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations Violent Crime Taskforce.
Batiste faces charges of aggravated flight from an officer by vehicle (felony) and other traffic violations.
