A St. John the Baptist Parish patrol deputy disrupted the burglary of a LaPlace home early Friday morning (Jan. 23, 2026) and arrested two suspects, one of whom is a juvenile.
The deputy was on patrol in the 300 block of Elmwood Drive at 1:14 a.m. when he observed a pickup truck in the driveway of a house he knew to be unoccupied. As he passed the house, he saw two males get out of the truck. After making a U-turn to return to the house, the truck and the two males were gone.
The deputy continued to patrol the area and located the unoccupied pickup truck parked about a block away from Elmwood Drive and saw the two males walking down the street.
The deputy returned to the 300 block of Elmwood Drive and parked while watching the house. A short while later the deputy observed the two males walk into the house through the front door. The deputy then illuminated the emergency blue lights on his unit and pulled into the driveway of the residence to conduct an investigative stop of the two.
The deputy gave loud verbal commands for them to exit the house and lay on the ground, to which they both complied.
The homeowners informed deputies that they did not know the two males, later identified as 17-year-old Antonio Dominguez of Reserve, LA. and a 16-year-old juvenile, and that they should not be at the residence.
Both were arrested and booked with simple burglary of an immovable structure.
