The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested two suspects involved in a shooting Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026 in the 100 block of Historic West Street in Garyville that injured a 32-year-old Baton Rouge man. The man, identified as Clarence Scott, Jr., is also wanted in connection with that shooting.

Scott suffered a gunshot wound to his thigh and was transported to via helicopter to University Medical Center in New Orleans. Scott, who was released from the hospital, has been uncooperative with investigators.

A warrant has been issued for Scott’s arrest. He faces charges of possession of firearms/carry concealed weapon by convicted felon ( felony) and illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities.

A St. John Parish Sheriff’s deputy heard multiple gunshots while patrolling in Garyville on Tuesday at 2:42 p.m. While driving in the direction of the gunshots, the deputy saw several people running. One of them was carrying an AR-15 style firearm.

While attempting to locate the suspect, the deputy was flagged down by a bystander and informed that someone had been shot. Scott was found conscious and lying on the ground in the 100 block of Historic West Street. He told deputies that he was waiting for a relative when he heard gunfire and attempted to run away.

Deputies found multiple spent shells casings on Historic West Street. Several houses and a car on the street were damaged by gunfire.
Ashley Johnson, Jr. 19, of Reserve, was arrested and booked with aggravated criminal damage to property (felony) and illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities.

A male juvenile, 16, of Reserve, was booked with aggravated criminal damage to property (felony), illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile (MISD) and illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities.

Johnson and the male juvenile were arrested around 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday following a traffic stop in Reserve.
