The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a LaPlace man and booked him with felony burglary of a car and house in Reserve on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
A St. John Parish Sheriff’s deputy responded to the 400 block of Northwest Third Street in Reserve at 6:03 a.m. on Thursday, March 5, for the report of a vehicle burglary.
The vehicle’s owner reported that she discovered the doors of her Honda Accord open and the car’s contents strewn around inside. She reported that the vehicle’s registration form, an insurance card and replacement door handle valued at $23 had been stolen.
A surveillance camera captured a person getting out of a gold Malibu Chevrolet and opening the doors of the Honda Accord shortly after 2 a.m. on March 5. The victim was able to identify the person as her former boyfriend, Brandon Lawrence, 49, of LaPlace.
Less than an hour later, at 6:57 a.m., SJSO deputy responded to the 100 block of NW 18th Street in Reserve in connection to a burglary of a home.
The homeowner, who is also the victim of the car burglary, reported that she arrived home to find her house unlocked and the contents inside were ransacked.
She reported that she believed Lawrence was the culprit based on a text she’d received from him earlier.
Deputies found Lawrence walking in the 2900 block of Williamsburg Drive in LaPlace around 8 a.m. on Thursday. He was arrested following a brief foot chase.
