The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested Da’marcus Turley, 18, of Edgard and booked him with aggravated second degree battery (felony) and armed robbery (felony) in connection with the shooting Wednesday, April 1, 2026, of a 14-year-old boy in Edgard.
St. John Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 200 block of Central Avenue in Edgard in reference to a shooting at 8:22 p.m. Deputies arrived on scene and found the victim lying in a front yard with a gunshot wound to his thigh. A SJSO deputy applied a tourniquet to the victim’s leg to help reduce blood loss.
The victim was transported via Acadian Ambulance and Acadian Airmed to Children’s Hospital where he was treated and later released.
The shooting happened after a pool party a short distance away in the 200 block of Castle Drive. Turley attempted to take a toy gun that was in the victim’s backpack and chased the victim before shooting him.
After getting shot, the juvenile ran and later collapsed in a nearby yard where deputies found him.
Turley was arrested at his home Wednesday night without incident. He is being held in the parish jail in LaPlace under a $115,000 bond.
