With deep regret, St John Sheriff Mike Tregre advised that two St John Officers,   Deputy Jeremy Triche, 27, of LaPlace, LA,  and  Deputy Brandon Nielsen, 34, of Destrehan, LA,  were ambushed, shot, and killed this morning, at aproximately 5:15am,  while searching for suspects who had earlier shot and injured another officer, Deputy Michael Scott Boyington, 33, of Kenner, LA.   A fourth officer, Deputy Jason Triche, 30, of Montz, LA, was also shot and injured during this incident.

Deputy Jeremy Triche had been with the St John Sheriff’s Office for four years and was currently assigned to the Canine Division.  He is survived by his wife and two year old son.

Deputy Brandon Nielsen had been with the St John Sheriff’s Office for the past 1.8 years and was assigned to the traffic division.  He is survived by his wife and five children.

Deputy Jason Triche has been with the St John Sheriff’s Office for the past 10 years and is currently assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division.

Deputy Michael Scott Boyington has been with the St John Sheriff’s Office for the past 3 years and is currently assigned to the District Attorney’s Office as an Investigator.
