St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a Harahan man on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2026 after he was found driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of New Orleans two days earlier, on Sept. 21, 2026.
The suspect, identified as Keith Magraff Jr., 17, of Harahan, is a fugitive from the New Orleans Police Department who is wanted in connection with a carjacking of another vehicle in New Orleans.
St. John Parish Sheriff’s deputies spotted Magraff driving the stolen vehicle at 2:46 p.m. in the 1800 block of Cinclair Loop in the New Era subdivision in LaPlace. Magraff sped down the street after seeing a marked St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office vehicle and refused to stop even after the deputy activated the emergency lights and sirens.
Magraff drove north on Cinclair Loop at a high rate of speed and turned onto N. Sugar Ridge where he left the roadway and struck a curb. Magraff disregarded five stop signs as he sped down North Sugar Ridge and turned onto Fairway Drive where he lost control and left the roadway. He drove through a west facing fence on North Sugar Ridge and struck the south side of a brick house and a gas meter.
Magraff attempted to drive the car through the fence, but the damaged vehicle was rendered immobile. Magraff then attempted to flee on foot, but was caught and detained.
The St. John Parish Fire Department was able to secure the damaged gas meter until officials from Atmos Gas arrived on scene.
Magraff is being held in the St. John Parish jail under a $20, 450 bond set by 40th JDC Judge Vercell Fiffie. Magraff has been booked with:
• Hit and Run Driving (MISD)
• Aggravated obstruction of a highway of commerce (FELONY)
• Illegal possession of stolen things (MISD)
• Illegal possession of stolen things (FELONY)
• Reckless operation of a vehicle (MISD)
• Flight from an officer by vehicle (MISD)
• Resisting an officer by flight (MISD)
• Stop Signs and Yield Signs – 5 Counts
• Fugitive from the New Orleans Police Department(No bond).
