The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old man who was found suffering from gunshot wounds after wrecking his car in the 500 block of West 5th Street in LaPlace shortly before 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026.
The man, identified as Kyron Davis, was found lying on the ground, unconscious and unresponsive. He was transported to Ochsner Medical Center in LaPlace where he was pronounced dead.
At this time detectives believe this is an isolated incident based on the collected evidence which indicates that Davis was shot at his residence and then attempted to drive himself before crashing.
At approximately 8:57 p.m. on Oct. 14, 2026, St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a 911 call in reference to gunfire in the area of Fir Street and a vehicle that had crashed into the St. Joan of Arc Thrift Store on West 5th Street.
The building, located parallel to Fir Street, sustained substantial damage. The store was closed and no one else was injured in the crash.
