The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s help in locating Dominique L. Linton, 39, who has been convicted of first-degree rape and sexual battery of a child under the age of 13.
Linton’s last known address was 117 Sherman Walker St., Garyville, LA. Based on tips, Linton is believed to have fled Louisiana, possibly for Canada, to avoid arrest.
Linton was convicted by a jury in the 40th Judicial District Court in Edgard, La. of first-degree rape and sexual battery of a child under of the age of 13 on April 6, 2024.
On Sept. 3, 2024, Linton was permitted to be released from police custody by 40th Judicial District Court Judge Vercell Fiffie.
On June 16, 2026 the Louisiana Supreme Court reversed Judge Fiffie’s ruling to release Linton from police custody. However, Linton failed to appear in court as ordered on Aug. 3, 2026 where he was to be remanded into police custody, pending sentencing.
The Sheriff’s Office, along with the U.S. Marshals Service, has been searching for Linton since he failed to show up for court. Per Louisiana statute, Linton is expected to receive a mandatory life sentence.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Dominique Linton is encouraged to call the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office TIPS line at (985) 359-TIPS, SJSO Lieutenant Ann Taylor at (985) 359-8950 or 9-1-1.
