On Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at 9:13 am, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the 300 block of Historic East Street in Garyville for the report of a subject being shot. The victim, a 24 year old man from LaPlace, was transport by family members to River Parish Hospital for treatment and remains there in guarded condition. No one else was injured during the incident.

Wanted for Garyville Shooting

After receiving information over the course of the investigation, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Detectives indentified Donald Weber, 31, as the suspect in the shooting of a LaPlace man in Garyville on Tuesday morning. Detectives obtained a judicial court ordered arrest warrant for Weber for attempted 2nd degree murder, carrying of a firearm by a convicted felon, and criminal trespassing.

Weber’s last known address is Central Avenue in Reserve. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Weber is encouraged to call St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Detectives at 985-359-TIPS or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111. Citizens, submitting an anonymous tip to Crimestoppers, may qualify for a cash reward. Anyone with information does not have to testify in court and will be issued a tip number to be identified for the potential reward.

The victim was released from the hospital.
