On Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at 1:30 pm, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the 2300 block of Country Club Drive in LaPlace for the report of the burglary of a residence. With the cooperation of concerned citizens and video surveillance, investigators were able to get a description the car used in the burglary. At approximately 3:30 pm, a deputy saw a car matching the description of the car used in the burglary and identified the driver of the car as Kenneth King Jr. The deputy was familiar with King and knew that he had no driver’s license. When the deputy stopped the car as part of the investigation, King attempted to flee from the deputy, but after a brief struggle, he was detained.
Detectives executed a judicial court ordered search warrant on the car and recovered stolen property from the Country Club Drive burglary and a gun report stolen from Baton Rouge in January.
Kenneth King Jr., 22, of LaPlace was arrested and booked with resisting an officer, illegal carrying a weapon, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, possession of stolen things, and driver must be licensed. He remains in custody in lieu of a $202,000.00 bond. King was arrested 10 times in St. John the Baptist since December, 2008.
