On Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at 9:30 pm, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the 600 block of West Fifth Street in LaPlace for the report of a female being shot. When deputies arrived at the location, they found a 29-year-old female lying on the side of the roadway with a gunshot wound to her lower leg. The victim was transported to Ochsner Medical Center for treatment.
The victim told deputies that she was walking home when she heard gunshots and realized that she was shot in the leg. She did not see anyone or any vehicles when she heard the gunshots.
