On Monday, February 3, 2014, at 1:03 am, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 700 block of Colony Drive in LaPlace for the report of a burglary of a residence that had just occurred. The victim identified the perpetrator by name and gave a description of vehicle that she left in. While in route to the residence, 911 dispatchers told

responding deputies that the perpetrator left in a maroon Ford Explorer heading north on Cambridge Drive. A responding deputy saw a vehicle matching the description of the fleeing vehicle. The deputy conducted an investigative stop on the vehicle to identify the occupants.

During the stop, deputies learned that the two occupants lied to the investigating deputy by giving the deputy false names. The occupants of the vehicle were identified as Kisha Jones, 34, of Canton, MS and Mack Small Jr., 34, of LaPlace. A computer check revealed that both subjects were wanted on outstanding warrants.

The investigation revealed to deputies that Mack Small Jr. dropped off Kisha Jones, a friend of the victim, at the residence. Jones kicked in the front door of the residence and rummaged through the victim’s jewelry box when the victim turned on the lights. Jones fled the residence, and Small picked up Jones in the maroon Ford Explorer before driving from the area.

Deputies arrested and booked Kisha Jones with simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, simple criminal damage to property, resisting an officer, contempt of court, and fugitive from another agency. Jones remains in custody in lieu of a $52,650.00 bond.

Deputies arrested and booked Mack Small Jr. with principal to simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, resisting an officer, a bench warrant, and fugitive from another agency. Small remains in custody in lieu of a $52,727.24 bond.
