On Wednesday, February 26, 2014, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested one subject in connection with the armed robbery and homicide at a LaPlace store, and a second subject wanted by St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office is still at large.


 


Wednesday afternoon, Dracier Dewey, 22, of Homewood Place in Reserve, contacted St. John the Baptist Parish authorities and confessed to his involvement in the armed robbery and homicide that took place Tuesday afternoon at the LaPlace Feed and Supply store on Sleepy Redwood Street in LaPlace. Detectives arrested Dewey on a judicial court ordered arrest warrant and booked him with principal to armed robbery, principal to first-degree murder, and principal to attempted first-degree murder. His bond was set at $1,600,000.00.

 

 

 


 

Based on findings during the investigation, detectives sought and obtained a judicial court ordered arrest warrant for Charles Mcquarter III, 22, of Homewood Place in Reserve for his involvement in the armed robbery-homicide. Mcquarter is wanted by St. John the Baptist Parish authorities for armed robbery, first-degree murder, and attempted first-degree murder.

 

Mcquarter turned himself in Thursday Feb 27 to be booked on armed robbery, first-degree murder, and attempted first-degree murder.
He has NO bond for the first-degree murder, and $1,250,000.00 for Armed Robbery and Attempted First Degree Murder.  Also a Probation Hold was placed on him.

 

 

 

 

 Release of Feb 26, 2014

On Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at 2:36 pm, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 100 block of Sleepy Redwood Street in LaPlace for the report of an armed robbery of the LaPlace Feed and Supply. When deputies arrived on the scene, they found two victims that sustained gunshot wounds.

 


Steven Finckbeiner, 63, succumbed to his
injuries on the scene; the second victim, Constance Finckbeiner, 58, was transported to an area hospital for treatment. No one else was injured.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Investigators released video surveillance and asked for the public’s assistance in indentifying the two people in the video. The video footage is accessible at these links:

A cash register was reported missing from the store. If anyone finds a cash register, they are asked not to touch it but to call the Sheriff’s Office .
