On Friday, March 21, 2014, at 8:03 pm, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 2400 block of Hebert Drive in LaPlace for the report of a disturbance. The victim, a 15-year-old boy, told deputies that when he was walking on Belle Pointe Boulevard on his way home, three juvenile boys on bicycles confronted him.
One of the boys demanded that the victim give him the things in his pockets and his hat. When the victim refused to do so, the perpetrator grabbed and ripped a gold chain from the neck of the victim. The three juveniles fled on their bicycles east on Airline Highway.
Over the course of the investigation, detectives identified the 16-year-old juvenile who stole the gold chain from the victim. Detectives arrested him and charged him with simple robbery. He was released to his parent.
