On Thursday, April 24, 2014, at 7:50 pm, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested a 16 year old Juvenile who lives on Williamsburg Drive in Laplace for the Second Degree Murder of Calvin Edmond.   The juvenile was also charged with 3 counts of Aggravated Assault with a firearm and Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property. He remains in custody in lieu of a $285,000 bond. Detectives arrestes the juvenile on a judicial court ordered arrest warrant.

Release of April 24, 2014
On Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at 8:39 pm, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the intersection of Yorktowne Drive and Fairway Drive in LaPlace for the report of a male subject who was shot. The victim succumbed to his injuries Wednesday.



He was identified as Calvin Edmond, 17, of Cinclair Loop in LaPlace. The homicide is the second homicide in St. John the Baptist Parish this year. The investigation is ongoing.

Release of April 22, 2014
On Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at 8:39 pm, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the intersection of Yorktowne Drive and Fairway Drive in LaPlace for the report of a male subject who was shot. Deputies found the victim unresponsive on the ground. He sustained a gunshot wound in the back of the head. The victim was transported for medical treatment to River Parish Hospital and transferred to University Hospital. 

Investigators spoke to residents in the area who stated, after hearing several gun shots, they exited their homes to find the victim lying on the ground in front of a residence. One neighbor reported that the glass door of her residence was shattered by a bullet and the exterior of her house had several bullet holes. No other injuries were reported.
