On Monday, December 15, 2014, at 1:05 pm, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff‘s Office detectives booked a 16-year-old male juvenile in connection with the shooting incident that occurred in the 1500 block of Delta Road on Friday, December 12. Based on the investigation, detectives identified the suspect and obtained a judicial court ordered arrest warrant for the juvenile. He was arrested at school.
Detectives booked the juvenile with illegal use of weapons and assault by drive-by shooting. He remains detained pending the outcome of the juvenile detention hearing.
Additional arrests are possible pending the outcome of the investigation.

On Friday, December 12, 2014, at 5:45 pm, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 1500 block of Delta Road in LaPlace for the report of a gunshot heard in the area. No one was injured.
Deputies spoke with the complainant who reported that her 11-yearÂold son ran in the house saying he heard a gunshot. The complainant said her 15-year-old nephew who was down the block also ran in the house saying that someone was shooting at him.
The 15-year-old juvenile told deputies that a tan or brown Ford Explorer passed, and someone fired a gunshot at him and two friends, 16 and 14-year-old boys.
