St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre is proud to announce that three of his officers were among the 14 recent graduates of the Peace Officer Standards and Training program (POST) conducted at the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office Regional Training Academy.

Deputies Lawrence Bolden Jr., Julia Oubre and Shiaa Thomas were recognized as POST certified law enforcement officers during a ceremony on May 22, 2026.

Deputy Oubre, who was elected class president, also earned special recognition as the Salutatorian of Academy Class 2026-43, earning the second highest overall grade average.

“This is a job a lot of people say they wouldn’t want to do, but it’s also a job a lot of people can’t do,” St. John Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre said. “I’m very proud of these deputies for their perseverance and sacrifice in not only completing this rigorous training, but also for excelling as leaders.”

The 17-week program included training in firearms, physical fitness, Louisiana criminal and traffic law, writing reports, conducting interrogations and general investigative techniques.

Sheriff Tregre congratulated Deputies Bolden, Thomas and Oubre on their successful completion of this rigorous and intense training.

“I know you are more than ready to serve our community with honor and dedication.”
