On Monday, May 25, 2015, at 3:26 pm, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area of Sunnyside Drive and Creole Street in Reserve for the report of gunshots fired in the area. When they arrived in the area, deputies located six teenage male subjects, ages 17-19, who said that they were shot at; one teenager was shot in the leg. The 18-year-old victim that sustained the gunshot wound was transported by EMS to an area hospital for treatment. No one else was injured.

The teenage victims told deputies that they were shot at in front of a residence in the 1700 block of Creole Street. Deputies reported that a car and a house were hit with gunshots during the incident.

During the investigation, deputies received information from citizens who said that the subjects responsible for the shooting were traveling in a gray Buick. Deputies located the car occupied by two subjects in a parking lot at Highway LA 44 and East 13th Street in Reserve. Deputies detained Jeremiah Smith, 20, of Delta Drive in Reserve and Lawrence Dennis, 18, of East 10th Street in Reserve.

Based on the findings of the investigation, detectives arrested Lawrence Dennis and Jeremiah Smith. Detectives booked Dennis with attempted second-degree murder (6), aggravated criminal damage to property (2), and possession of marijuana. Dennis’s bond has not been set. Detectives booked Smith with principal to attempted second-degree murder (6). Smith’s bond has not been set.
