On Friday, October 9, 2015, at 12:35 am, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence in the 100 block of Rosenwald Street in Reserve for the report of a man that was shot. Deputies arrived and located a 45-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to his upper right chest in the garage of the residence. Emergency medical services transported the victim to a New Orleans area hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown.
The victim indentified a 24-year-old woman who lived down the street as the person that shot him. Detectives spoke with the woman who told detectives that she had gone out to get something from her car. When she was at the car, the male subject approached and startled her when he grabbed her. Not being acquainted with the man, she pulled away from his grasp. Feeling threatened by the man as he approached her again, she shot him with her handgun that she had on her person.
Detectives did not arrest her. Upon conclusion of a complete and thorough investigation, detectives will refer the case to the St. John the Baptist Parish District Attorney for review and advisement.
