Shawn C. Fisher |
On April 29, 2016 at 1:30 a.m. St. John Parish deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Elm and West 5th Streets in LaPlace in reference to a suspicious vehicle at the traffic light that appeared to be occupied by a driver who was sleeping. Upon arrival, deputies woke the driver and identified him as Shawn C. Fisher, 46, of LaPlace. As Fisher was exiting the vehicle, a deputy observed him chewing a large white mass. An altercation then occurred between deputies and Fisher who attempted to grab a deputy’s gun before he was detained. Once Fisher was removed from a deputy’s unit, deputies also found a clear plastic bag containing marijuana in the unit. Detectives obtained a judicial arrest warrant for Fisher. Detectives arrested Fisher and booked him April 29 with two counts of possession of marijuana, two counts of resisting an officer, simple criminal damage to property, obstructing public passages, two counts of resisting an officer with force or violence, two counts of disarming a peace officer, obstruction of justice and two counts of battery of a police officer. Fisher has been arrested more than 80 times since 1989. He remains in custody in lieu of a $38,250 bond.
