Kaylan Morris, 21, of Garyville has been arrested for the murder of 18-year-old Norvon Gauff of Garyville who was shot and killed April 6, 2017. Based on investigation, detectives determined Morris to be the suspected shooter and obtained a judicial warrant for his arrest. With assistance from the U.S. Marshal Fugitive Task Force, St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested Morris this morning at an apartment complex in Baton Rouge.

On April 6, 2017 about 3 p.m, deputies responded to the 300 block of Fig Street in Garyville in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies located the victim, Norvon Gauff, in the street. Deputies and emergency services rendered medical aid to the subject, and he was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation.

Morris was transported to the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility and booked with first degree murder April 7, 2017. Bond has not yet been set.
