Jared M. Herbert

Jared M. Herbert, 26, of LaPlace was arrested April 8, 2017 in connection to an attempted burglary of a residence in LaPlace. On Saturday, April 8, 2017, about 9 p.m., deputies responded to the 100 block of Crevasse Avenue in reference to a male subject, identified as Jared M. Herbert, attempting to break into a residence. Upon arrival, the 55-year-old female victim told officers that Herbert used some type of tool in an attempt to gain access into her home then fled in a truck.

During the investigation, deputies discovered a puncture to the aluminum front door possibly caused by a tool used to pry at the lock. Deputies also obtained a description of the truck that fled the scene, and shortly after observed the vehicle heading south on Crevasse Avenue. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, and arrested the subject, identified as Jared Herbert. He was book with simple criminal damage to property – under $500 and attempted simple burglary. Herbert is in custody in lieu of a $21,000 bond.
